William David Newmark, 91, of Danbury, died February 13, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York York May 29, 1924, the son of the late Harriet (Bornheim) and Julian Newmark.Porpoise (SS-172) and USS Requin (SS-481).www.jdrf.org, or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org.www.danburymemorial.com.

His loving wife Barbara Abbott Newmark; children and spouses William J. and Patrice Newmark of Newtown, Gary V. and Debra Newmark of Callands, Va., James B. and Tracy Newmark of Manchester, and Chandra (Newmark) and Mark Weising of Old Hickory, Tenn.; stepchildren, Brian Abbott, and wife Danelia, of Newtown and Debra (Abbott) Bergeron, and husband Robert, of New Bedford, Mass., survive Mr Newmark. His many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive him. His first wife, Frances L. Spring Newmark; and his sister, Bernice (Newmark) Berger predeceased Mr Newmark.

He attended school at DeWitt Clinton High School and joined the Navy. He was a World War II veteran and proudly served as a radioman on the USS

Mr Newmark retired from Perkin-Elmer Corporation in 1990, where he worked as an electronics technician in the model shop, and was a loyal Yankees fan all his life.

He was a member of St Gregory the Great Church and served in the Holy Name Society and Parish Advisory Board. He also served as an usher for 40 years, and called bingo for years on Friday night. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Services will take place from noon to 2 pm, Wednesday, February 17, with a prayer service at 1:30 pm, in the Danbury Memorial Funeral Home, 117 South Street. Interment will follow at St Peter's Cemetery.
