Some Yankee Gas Customers Getting Service Credit

BERLIN — Practically all customers of Yankee Gas Services Company will receive lower bills this February thanks to a company proposal that was recently accepted by the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control. The proposal accelerated a customer refund over one month versus over an entire year under the current billing rules.

The credit will appear within the Fuel Charge on firm customer bills in February.

Residential heating customers using 150 CCF (hundred cubic feet) during a month would see a decrease of 8.25 percent in their bill or about $20.50 for the month.

Residential heating customers using 250 CCF during a month would see a decrease of 8.7 percent or about $34.30 for the month.

“While we don’t control the weather or the price of natural gas,” said Raymond P. Necci, president and chief operating officer, “we believe our customers will certainly benefit from this one-month, lump sum credit during the current winter heating season.”

For an historical record of Fuel Charges (also known as the purchased gas adjustment, or PGA), see Rates, Rules, and Regulations on www.yankeegas.com.
