A Loving Environment

To the Editor:

On Friday February 8, I had the honor of delivering dog and cat supplies to the Newtown animal pound. The girl scouts provided a large box in front of the Middle Gate hallway entrance and thankfully the box was filled to the capacity.

I enjoy bringing supplies down to Carol Lee Mason. When she receives the supplies her eyes light up with such thankfulness. She and her employees run such a clean and loving environment for the animals. I am so thankful that this town has Carol to run the pound. As she walked me in, I saw a dog that had been brought in from New York City shaking in a corner and scared from the abuse that it had incurred in the past. He was only a couple months old. Carol Lee sat in the cage comforting the dog and telling me that she was taking him home for the weekend. She has a heart of gold. She really cares about the animals like no one I have ever witnessed.

We spoke about the funds that she needs for the new pound. I figured that if everyone in Newtown gave the pound $1, she would be so close to getting a new pound for her animals. With that in mind, I am asking our fellow Newtowners to donate $1 to the pound and help these animals have a better home! I did.
