Raising The Blade
On A Snowy Evening
To the Editor:
During the recent snow storm, despite my wifeâs repeated warnings, I went out running. It is very peaceful and quiet running in the snow, plus, the lack of cars dramatically reduces the stress factor. As I ran on Queen Street, the peace and tranquility came to an abrupt end when I heard the rumble of the approaching Newtown snow plow. I began to rethink my wifeâs earlier comments. The driver could have buried me under that rolling wash of snow, but instead he slowed down, raised the blade and swung wide around me and then resumed his plowing further up the road. I am grateful for the driverâs compassion and professionalism.
As I write this note, I wonder how many times the âSnowplow of Disasterâ was heading into our lives, but God raised the blade and sent it around?
Sincerely,
Mark Dennen
