Police Union Elects Officers
Newtown Police Union members have reelected School Resource Officer Robert Koetsch to another three-year term as their union president. Officer Koetsch ran unopposed for reelection to the post in balloting by union members at the police station February 14.
Police union members chose Patrol Officer Dominick Salvatore to serve as union vice president in a contest against Detective Darlene Froehlich. Detective Robert Tvardzik did not run for reelection to the vice presidentâs post.
In a contest for union secretary, Sergeant Christopher Vanghele won in a race over incumbent secretary Patrol Officer Phil Hynes.
Det Tvardzik won the post of union treasurer. He ran unopposed. The treasurerâs post had been vacant after the departure of Patrol Officer Patricia Tesla from the police department last year to join the Stratford Police Department.Â
