Newtown resident Heather Christiano, a student at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society recently. Membership in the society recognizes the academic achievements of adult, part-time undergraduate students who balance the responsibilities of family and employment.
Alexis I. Danziger of Newtown was named to the deanâs list at the University of Vermont. She is a junior studying political science.
Midshipman Justin Davis of Sandy Hook has been named to the superintendentâs list for the fall 200 semester at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Mr Davis is a junior at the academy majoring in systems engineering.
Virginia Louise Eaton of Newtown recently graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a bachelor of science degree.
Michelle Haghpanah, a resident of Newtown and daughter of Hassan and Susan Haghpanah, was named to the deanâs list at Fairfield University. Miss Haghpanah is majoring in biology and computer science at Fairfield and is also active as a math and science tutor, a first year facilitator, and as a lab assistant involved in biological research. She is a graduate of Newtown High School and plans a career in the medical field.
Karen Hennessey, mother of Alex, Stefan, and Gregory, has graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Ms Hennessey is currently interviewing for registered dietitian internships.
Vanessa L. Raby, daughter of Hanne D. Raby of Sandy Hook and John Raby of East Norwalk, was named to the facultyâs list of honorable mention for the fall term of the 2000-01 academic year at Roanoke College.
Sacred Heart University announced that the following Newtown residents were named to the fall semester deanâs list. The students include Viveca Burr, Beth Casson, Kimberly Chiappetta, Heather Christiano, Blinn Cirella, and Patricia Philipp. There were 1,049 students named to the deanâs list.
