NEWTOWN, CONN. â The Newtown Historical Society announces its 23rd annual antiques show will be Saturday, March 1, from 10 am to 4 pm, at the Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road (Route 34). This new venue will provide a bigger show with greater space, additional dealers, plenty of free parking and handicap accessibility.
This popular antiques show will feature many returning dealers, as well as some exciting new dealers. Once again the Newtown Historical Society Antiques Show promises to live up to its reputation as a show that brings quality, yet affordable antiques from highly regarded dealers. With its diverse collection of dealers and merchandise, the show provides opportunities for any collector.
Dealers returning this year include Robert Girvin of Rowfant Antiques, Charlton, Mass., with a selection of china and silver; Maile Allen, Colonia, N.J., will display antique maps and prints; and Caroline Dirsa, Orange, Conn., will have quilts, baskets and wooden farm items.
William H. Horne Antiques, Manchester, Conn., will have a selection of early china and ironstone; Ryanâs Antiques will display early tools, kitchenware, wooden items and furniture. Kathy and Paul Steinberg, Sashaâs Antiques, Orange, Conn., have more than 20 years of experience in the business and will have an exquisite display of high-quality Americana and primitive furniture and accessories.
David and Ann Lowe will be back with their framed cigarette cards, and Bob Baranowski from Rock Fall, Conn., is also returning to the show. Other exhibitors noted for a serious focus on Seventeenth, Eighteenth or Nineteenth Century American objects include Steve and Ginny Balser of Old Horizon Antiques, Beverly Dutton of Beverly Dutton Antiques and Jamie Heuschkel of Hirsh Antiques.
Two new sterling silver dealers will be on hand: Shari Yellin of Wyckoff, N.J., and Geri Soukup will be bright spots in the show. Beth Snyder of Country Christmas in Bethany, Conn., is new to the show and features a full line of holiday antiques including Christmas, Halloween and others. Paula Hill from Harriman, N.Y., carries illustrated childrenâs books, prints, postcards, paper dolls, die cuts and more.
Admission to the show is $7. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Newtown Historical Societyâs free public programs, as well as the preservation of the Matthew Curtiss House Museum and its collections. The museum, circa 1750, is located at 44 Main Street and will be open during the day from noon to 3 pm.
