In A Concert For Young People

DANBURY — Danbury Music Centre invites young people of any age to attend “Circus on a String,” performance scheduled for Sunday, February 25, at 3 pm, at Ives Concert Hall, 181 White Street. Admission is free.

Danbury Symphony Orchestra, under music director emeritus James E. Humphreville, will be joined by 10-year-old pianist Jason Zhang and the Robert Rogers Puppet Company for a one hour performance.

Jason, a fifth grader at Meeting House Hill School in New Fairfield, has been a piano student of Edith Sullivan for the past two years. He will perform the first movement of the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 23.

The second part of the program will feature Robert Rogers Puppet Company, founded in 1980 and based in Danbury. Robert Rogers has developed a puppet show using the music of Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kiji Suite and Kabalevsky’s The Comedians.

The program is designed for children from three to 12 years of age, but will appeal to all ages.

Early arrival at Ives Concert Hall is suggested. Doors will open at 2:15 pm. Seating is first come, first seated. For further information, call Danbury Music Centre at 748-1716.
