Julia Kovacs

Julia Kovacs, 88, of Valerie Lane, Danbury, died February 11 at Danbury Hospital. Mrs Kovacs was the wife of the late Paul George Kovacs, Jr.

She was the mother of Paul Kovacs and his wife Buni, of Newtown.

She was born in Tomkins Cove, N.Y., on June 30, 1912, a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Sambati) Balogh.

Mrs Kovacs was the co-owner of Paul Kovacs Tire Shop in Danbury for more than 50 years. She was a member of St James Episcopal Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two other sons, Robert Kovacs and his wife, Linda, of Danbury, and Roger Kovacs and his wife, Gwen, of Danbury and Ft Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Esther Rushforth of Rutherford, N.J., and Mary Benway of Keeseville, N.Y.; several grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service was conducted February 15 at St James Episcopal Church. Burial followed in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
