Robert Allen Frederick, 71, husband of Eunice (Goundrey) Frederick of 172 Taunton Hill Road, Newtown, died February 11 in Danbury Hospital.
Mr Frederick was born in Allentown, Penn., July 10, 1928, a son of the late Harry and Mildred (Reinhard) Frederick. He was raised in Binghamton, N.Y. and was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School Class of 1946 and Binghamton University. During World War II, he served in the US Army as a photographer.
He had a long career in retail management. A resident of Newtown since 1967, Mr Frederick was employed as general manager for the D.M. Read Department Stores in Danbury and in New York State until his retirement. He then had a career as a real estate broker in Newtown.
Mr Frederick was a former member of the board of directors of Danbury Hospital and a former member of the Danbury Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Jefferson Masonic Lodge No 332 AF & AM in Watkins Glen, N.Y.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Leslie D. Hurst of Cheshire and Celeste L. Frederick-Wein of Middletown, R.I.; and four grandchildren, Austin and Sawyer Hurst and Stephanie and Hillary Wein. Mr Frederick was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley A. Frederick, and by his brother, Walter A. Frederick.
Funeral services were held February 16, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, with the Rev Steven Gordon officiating. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring.
