Cheerleaders Second In SWC Competition
Newtown High School’s cheerleading squad placed second in the South-West Conference championship competition, at NHS, on February 6. The event was bumped from two nights earlier due to icy roads canceling school.
The Nighthawks put together a routine full of jumps, tumbles, tosses, and other impressive stunts to score 168.5 points; Joel Barlow of Redding was first with 178.1
Newtown competitors selected for the All SWC Team are Vicky Chop, Lauren Milligan, and Katie Daoust.
Captains are seniors Vicky Chop and Lauren Milligan, along with juniors Katie Daoust and Abby McManus. Sophomores are Hannah Busillo, Hannah Guman, Rachel Szor, and Chase Sferruzzo; and freshmen are Ella Macey and Ashley Jackson.
The squad is led by Head Coach Susan Bridges and Assistant Coaches Caitlin Delohery, Ellie Mouchantat, and Madeline Bridges.
