Police Investigating Auto Vandalism Spree
Police are investigating a string of incidents involving someone shooting out the window glass of automobiles at numerous places scattered across town between 10 pm on Tuesday, February 10, and 6:30 am on Wednesday, February 11.
Police estimate the damage to the motor vehicles at approximately $3,000.
In the incidents, the shooter, who driving or was being driven across town, was using possibly a BB gun or a pellet gun to shoot at the window glass of vehicles that were parked alongside streets or in driveways. In most cases, the side windows of vehicles were shot, police said.
On February 11, police received reports of damaged auto glass from residents living on streets including Forest View Drive, Paugussett Road, Black Bridge Road, Aunt Park Lane, Birch Hill Road, Hanover Road, Walnut Tree Hill Road, and Chipmunk Trail. About ten vehicles were reported to be damaged in the incidents.
Police are investigating the vandalism and ask anyone with information on the crimes to contact them at the police station at 426-5841. Officer Robert Haas is among those investigating the criminal mischief.
