Mr & Mrs Nicholas Savino

Kaitlin Alyssa Barry and Nicholas Robert Savino were married on October 5, 2008, by Monsignor Richard Shea at St Catherine’s of Sienna in Trumbull. A reception followed at The Waterview in Monroe.

The bride is the daughter of Thom and Georgia Barry of Southbury. She was given into marriage by her parents.

For her wedding day she selected a Watters silk satin strapless gown with duchess silk satin flower beaded appliqués in sparrow with a chapel-length train. Her maid of honor was Katherine Grasso of Mullica Hill, N.J., and bridesmaids were Katie Gugino of Danbury, Allison Hills of Danbury, Erin Masterson of Sandy Hook, and Colleen Davis of Charlottesville, Va. All of the bridesmaids are former Newtown residents.

The attendants all wore floor-length celadon green dresses with champagne accents. Their bouquets featured hydrangea with red roses, tied with a celadon ribbon.

Nicholas’s best man was David Roodhuyzen, who is also formerly of Newtown. The ushers were Joseph Montanaro of New York City, Blake Nezvesky of Danbury, Nathan Gaines of Middlebury, Gregg Burkhart of New York City, and Peter Engel of Hoboken, N.J. Blake, Nathan, Gregg, and Peter are also former Newtown residents.

Hope Durkin had the honor of serving as flower girl and Michael Durkin was the ring bearer. Both live in Danbury.

The bride and groom both graduated from Newtown High School in 2001.

Kaitlin also graduated from the University of Delaware in 2005. She works in the asset management department for Alliance Bernstein.

Nicholas graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2005 and is now a marketing representative for Federated Insurance.

The Savinos celebrated their wedding with a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. They have returned to their home in Trumbull.
