Judy Barta
Love And Light
Judy Barta, 88, of Newtown, died January 20 at Masonicare of Newtown. She was supported and surrounded by her daughter Susan Hadley of New Mexico; granddaughter Jennifer; grandson Christopher and his wife, Barbara; and great-grandson, Jake. Mrs Barta was born March 6, 1920.
She was a poet, a writer, an artist, an athlete, a teacher, an entrepreneur, and an inventor. One of her most memorable contributions was to the field of tennis, where she introduced the Group Teaching Method and the automatic tennis machine through her company, Ball Boy Company. She and her husband, Joe, founded the Bear Ridge Riding Club in Pleasantville, N.Y., where her love of riding and zest for life was fully expressed.
The source of many of her greatest attributes and inspiration was her rustic family cabin that her grandfather built in 1913 on Rangeley Lake in Maine. Her poems, art work, and love for the outdoors were all nourished at âHays Camp.â
This summer, she will make her final return to Camp. The family will spread her ashes over the cabin, field, mountains, and lake that she loved so dearly.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank all for the love, friendship, care, and support provided to Mrs Barta and the family.
