*Acoustic guitarist MARC HUBERMAN will be at Southwest Café in Ridgefield next week, performing from 6:30 to 9:30 pm on Thursday, February 19.

Marc also has each Friday this month set up at Donna Marie’s Cucina Italiana, 7 Main Street in Georgetown. Depending on the crowd, however, those shows sometimes linger as long as 10:30, he said in a note this week. So there are three more opportunities to see Marc over there this month.

*Georgetown Saloon will host a show by PETEY HOP & THE WALLBANGERS tonight. The performance of blues, folk, country, rockabilly, funk, R&B, reggae, ska and rock will get underway around 9:30.

Then tomorrow night ECLECTIC GROOVE will work with the saloon “for a Valentine Evening that would make Cupid envious,” promises a note from those folks this week. That show may start as early as 9:15.

Next weekend will see the return of Sandy Hook resident DOUG WAHLBERG and his band, who will be on hand for Friday, February 20.

*Speaking of Doug and his band, the Georgetown one is one of three the guys will be playing this month.

In addition to next Friday at the Georgetown Saloon, The Doug Wahlberg Band will be at Kicking Horse Grill in Southport (17 Pease Street; 203-254-1600) on Friday, February 21, and then back at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, February 28. For that show the band will actually be opening for LOU GRAMM, former lead singer of Foreigner.

Tickets for the Lou Gramm show are $65 and $70 and can be ordered through the Playhouse’s website, RidgefieldPlayhouse.org.

*Mohegan Sun Arena has added a show by BUCKCHERRY and POPA ROACH to its itinerary, and tickets for that event will be going on sale this weekend.

The bands will co-headline in Uncasville on Monday, March 16, and all seats are $35. Tickets will be going on sale Saturday morning at 10 am through TicketMaster vendors and will then also be available through the casino’s box office 24 hours later.

*Mocha Coffeehouse will feature MIKE GRIFFIN and WENDY BUTLER each taking turns in the spotlight this weekend.

Mike will open the weekend with a show on Friday night, picking from his repertoire of more than 200 original songs. This guy has been writing his own music since the age of 14 and has musical interests from Ella Fitzgerald to Steve Earle, so shows are varied and interesting.

Wendy – a recent transplant from the Park Slope section of Brooklyn – will offer a special Valentine’s Day show Saturday night. The owner of a master’s degree in voice performance and pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, Wendy maintains a private vocal studio and has performed in operas with New York and Brooklyn companies.

For performances like the one this weekend at Mocha, she covers everything from jazz and musical theater to classical and original works for keyboard and vocals.

Weekend shows at Mocha run from 8 to 10 pm and while there is no admission charge, there are plenty of goodies to purchase.

Next Thursday (February 19), JULIE SOREK will return for her monthly open acoustic jam. Musicians are invited to join her for traditional Celtic, English, Appalachian and Southern folk tunes. Non-musicians like me are also welcome to just listen and enjoy.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
