Occupation: I have been director of career development for Yale School of Management for six years. I work with 430 MBA students in helping them decide on career moves, and provide general guidance through MBA job search. Prior, I was director of career services at the University of Michigan Business School. I spent several years as MBA recruiting director at CitiBank in Chicago. I received a bachelor of music degree from Kent State in Ohio, and was classically trained in trumpet. I played for over 20 years and played professionally for a couple of years after college. I received a master of science from Miami University in Ohio.
How Long in Newtown: I have lived here for three and a half years. Previously I lived in Easton and Michigan.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: For me, the biggest change is the way the town has grown on me â the beauty of the area, the friendliness of the people, and the townâs can-do attitude. Itâs a delightful place to live. Thereâs a lot of doing good going on here.
Family: My wife, Priscilla, and I have been married for three and a half years. Priscilla is an independent consultant who works as a professional coach, helping people achieve their goals and objectives and balance work and life issues.
Pets: We have one oversized black and white cat named Nutmeg that looks like Sylvester, who came with Priscilla from New Hampshire. Â
Hobbies: I love working on old homes. I have an affinity for old homes, such as our 1835 farmhouse. I am learning organic gardening. Iâm just a student of organic gardening at this point. I love all things historical. I love reading and learning about American and European history. Itâs so important to know where weâve been so we can move forward. Iâm also a political junkie, reading about the American political system and how it works.
Favorite Books and Authors: I have a voracious appetite for reading, fiction and nonfiction. I read everything from mysteries to historic fiction. In nonfiction, I read everything from current events to care of the self. I recently read Home Town by Tracey Kidder.
Favorite TV Show: My wife and I are self-confessed Jeopardy addicts. We tape it every night so we will be sure to watch it. I also watch PBS programming. I rarely watch commercial TV.
Organizations: I have been a member of the Newtown Choral Society for two years. Our spring concert will be April 28 at the Meeting House. I also belong to a number of professional organizations, and have served in leadership roles.
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: The first time I saw the Borough with the flagpole in the middle of the intersection I thought, what a wonderful place to live. I love the ambiance of the place.
Favorite Vacation Spot: We travel to France a lot. Weâve enjoyed several vacations there. We travel a lot; itâs a hobby of ours. Weâve both been to Europe and Asia. The favorite spot of mine is Nova Scotia. Itâs absolutely pristine. It is New England without the commercialism. Itâs a beautiful part of the world.
Personal Philosophy: It is very important to strive for inner peace within yourself, understanding what you value, what youâre passionate about. Being at peace within yourself has a wonderful effect on how you deal with people and how they treat you. It makes a difference in how you view yourself and what you can do to make the world a better place. But it all begins with the inner peace you find in yourself.
