Herbert F. Bloom

Herbert F. Bloom died February 11 at Mediplex of Danbury at the age of 86. He was the husband of Mae (DeWitt) Bloom and lived on Memorial Drive in Danbury.

He was the father of Dennis W. Bloom of Sandy Hook.

Mr Bloom was born in Norwalk, December 22, 1914, son of the late William F. and Mary (Butterfazz) Bloom, and received his education there. Mr Bloom was a truck driver for the Public Works Department of the City of Danbury for 25 years and retired at the age of 62.

He was the shop steward for Local #677 Teamsters in Danbury and a member of the Danbury-Bethel Pigeon Racing Association.

Besides his loving wife of 55 years and son, he is survived by his devoted children, four other sons, David S. of Hampton, Neb., Earl W. of Otego, N.Y., and Richard A. and Brian T., both of Danbury; five daughters, Joyce Bloom of Norwalk, Judith A. Kubisek of Bridgewater, Sally R. Devine of Hartford, N.Y., June L. Blazek of Cortland, N.Y., and Sandra M. Marinaro of Orlando, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Dennis Bloom.

Funeral services were held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on February 15 with the Rev Dr Laura Ahrens, rector at St James Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial was in Wooster Cemetery.
