BETHEL 39, NEWTOWN 37: In a hotly-contested game, Newtown went down to defeat on a last-second shot by Bethel. Samantha Wong led Newtown with 14 points and four steals while Christie Iwanicki chipped in with six points and six steals. Erin Ruddock had a fine game, contributing six rebounds.
NEWTOWN 43, WESTON 29: Newtown jumped out to an early lead and cruised to the win. Jill Logan scored 11 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Samantha Wong chipped in with eight points while Darcy Fiscella added five points, seven rebounds and five steals. Erin Baier had five points and a solid, all-around game.
BOYS 5TH GRADE

WESTON 41, NEWTOWN 40: Danny Smith scored 13 points as Jason Smith and Greg Rodden combined for 22 points, but Newtown fell in a close one. A Rodden shot at the buzzer circled the rim and fell out. Michael Maher, Matt Boland, Bobby Lapple and Jared Modzelewski all played well on defense.
FAIRFIELD 37, NEWTOWN 28: Greg Rodden scored 10 points and Danny Smith and Kevin Troy combined for 11 more in a loss to Fairfield. Danny Giorno and PJ Cochrane had fine floor games and gave a valiant effort on defense.
BOYS 6TH GRADE

BLUE DEVILS 61, CHESHIRE 41: Brian Conroy had 13 points and 14 rebounds and Kevin Regan had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to the win. Ryan McGrath canned 10 points while Michael Kennedy and Jack Quinn scored eight apiece. Joe Bowen, Kennedy, and McGrath were strong off the glass as Justin Miller led the defense.
WESTON 56, BLUE DEVILS 33: Brian Conroy scored 10 points in a loss to Weston. Joey DeVellis added seven while Tad Pierson, Tucker Kass and Michael Kennedy controlled the boards.
BLUE DEVILS 34, DANBURY 23: Ryan McGrath scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Blue Devils past Danbury. Tad Pierson and Tucker Kass combined for 11 points. Joe Bowen, Brian Conroy and Kevin Regan were strong off the boards while Justin Miller and Jack Quinn led the defensive effort for the 17-2 Blue Devils.

WESTON 53, NEWTOWN 39: Marc Ingerman poured in 17 points while Drew Harmata, Alister Ratcliff and Stephen Neylon combined for 17 more to lead Newtown in a losing effort. Ingerman also pulled down 10 rebounds for the double-double.
MONROE 48, NEWTOWN 47: Marc Ingerman had 11 points and 11 rebounds while Drew Harmata had 13 points and nine rebounds as Newtown rallied from a 10-point, halftime deficit only to see Monroe can a bucket with two seconds left on the clock. Jack Capito and Alex Caruso combined for 10 points while Drew Adamek dished out four assists.
NEWTOWN 56, BROOKFIELD 46: Drew Harmata canned 20 points while Marc Ingerman had 12 points and 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the weekend to lead Newtown to the win. Drew Adamek chipped in with 10 points. Stephen Kean added four points and six rebounds and Tommy Wilson had a fine floor game.
GIRLS 8TH GRADE

NEWTOWN 47, WESTON 26: Newtown ran its record to 17-1 with an easy win over Weston. Megan LaFlamme canned 12 points, Ashley Larocque added 10, and Jacky Curran chipped in with 11. Katie OâConnor and Siobhan Cooper were strong under the glass, pulling down a combined 17 rebounds. Emily Nezvesky, Meghan Kelley, Courtney Brunton (six points) and Jackie Ercole all had fine games. The only player who couldnât contribute was Jessica Palermo, who had to sit out with a broken finger.
