Sylvester "Buster" Cocivi, 86, of Fairfield, owner and operator of Stratfield Farms, died peacefully February 8 at the place he was born, the former Stratfield Farms property, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fairfield, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Eamiello Cocivi, and was a lifelong town resident.

His beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Jean Varian Cocivi; his six children and their spouses, Philip and Deanna Cocivi of Newtown, Wendy Ceccorulli of Middlebury, Nancy Naughton of Oxford, Cindy and Vincent Cantarano of Arizona, Laurie and Neil Maloney of Seymour, and Robert and Jean Marie Cocivi of Cooperstown, N.Y.; a sister, Nancy Slady of Easton; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Sara Cocivi, Caitlin and Cody Cahill, Amanda Ceccorulli, Christopher and Christin Ceccorulli, Lindsey and Dave Stevens, Alicia Maloney, Ashley Maloney, Brian Maloney, Nicholas Cocivi, and Jessica Cocivi; a great-granddaughter; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews survive him.

A sister, Rosemary Hewig, and his granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Naughton, predeceased him.

At a young age, Mr Cocivi dedicated himself to running the family farm. He cherished spending time with his family, going on vacation, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, February 12, from 4 to 8 pm, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

Friends can meet directly for a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 13, at 10 am, in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
