Nighthawk Swim Team Gets Past Host New Fairfield Rebels, 94-86
Newtown High School’s boys’ swimming and diving team pulled out a 94-86 victory in New Fairfield on February 11, earning eight first-place finishes en route to topping the Rebels.
“I thought the guys swam a solid meet today against a very good New Fairfield team,” said Newtown Coach Zach Gauvin, adding that he’s looking forward to the last couple weeks of the dual meet season — February 18 at Joel Barlow of Redding and February 25 versus Bunnell-Stratford — as the Nighthawks try to get everybody qualified for the early March South-West Conference championships.
“I think this meet shows the steady progression the teams made over the season,” Gauvin said.
