ALBERT YORK PAINTINGS ON VIEW AT DAVIS & LANGDALE MARCH 3

avv/gs set 2-12 #688136

NEW YORK CITY — Davis & Langdale Company presents a loan exhibition, “Albert York: Paintings,” on view March 3–31.

The exhibition will consist of approximately 20 paintings, a number of which have not been seen for many years. Although York has produced no new painting since 1992, the gallery has attempted by these periodic exhibitions to make his work accessible to painters and the general public.

York was born in Detroit in 1928 and studied at the Ontario College of Art and at the Society of Arts and Crafts in Detroit.

He has been exhibiting in New York for more than 40 years, beginning at Davis Galleries (later Davis & Long Company, now Davis & Langdale Company) in 1963, and most recently in 2004 at Davis & Langdale Company.

A group of 20 paintings by York was exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 1982. His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions, including the widely traveled “American Still life: 1945–1983,” organized by the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, in 1983–1984.

The gallery is at 231 East 60th Street. For information, 212-838-0333.
