Standing Ovation For ‘Spatial Garden Design Plan’ Presentation
The Garden Club of Newtown sponsored a program on creating a “Spatial Garden Design Plan” at C.H. Booth Library on January 28.
The program drew a capacity crowd — and a standing ovation for guest speaker Brid Craddock. Extra seating had to be brought in to accommodate the guests eager to hear from the former Newtown resident.
Craddock is additionally a landscape designer, Connecticut Master Gardener, and Accredited Organic Land Care Professional. She was a founding member and president of the Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) and she has a long history of service on the Newtown Borough Zoning Board.
She is also a former chair of the Newtown Bike and Trails Committee.
Craddock’s credentials also include certificates in horticulture and landscape design and accreditation in organic farming from the Northeast Organic Farming Association. She has served as an instructor at the New York Botanical Garden, and is a lead designer with Growing Solutions, LLC of Ridgefield.
For the garden club last week, Craddock presented strategies for creating the perfect garden focusing on landscape design, deer resistant plants, irrigation, and plants and trees that thrive in our climate.
She provided guests with detailed notes that provided step-by-step directions on how to create the perfect garden.
