Robert Louis Schaedler, 92, of Sandy Hook, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his home in Church Hill Village.

Robert L. Schaedler (Bob) was born on November 13, 1932, in Queens Village, N.Y., to Emil and Florence Schaedler.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Ann Schaedler, and their nine children: Robert, Anne, Peter, Patricia, Thomas, Mary, Susan, David and Laura. He also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and his brothers, Paul and Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine and Florence; and his brother John.

Bob studied Aeronautics at Brooklyn Technical High School and then attended the Academy of Aeronautics on Long Island. During his service in the US Army, he trained helicopter mechanics and traveled to Alaska to build the DEW Line. He then had a long and successful career as a project manager for Consolidated Controls in Bethel.

Bob was known for his ability to come up with creative solutions to any problem. He enjoyed boating, home improvement projects and building models. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, from 4 to 7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 344, Newtown CT 06470 (newtown-ambulance.org/donate).

Bob’s endless advice and wisdom will be missed by all who knew him.
