Valentines For Veterans

To the Editor:

 The Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, would like to thank everyone who contributed cards to our Valentines for Veterans collection at the Booth Library.

A special thank you to the Daisy Scouts; Cub Scouts, St Stephen’s School of Trumbull, The Bruno Family, The Jurewicz Family, Yvonne Kopins, Hilary Gurdon, and all the people who donated anonymously. We collected over 600 cards, which is amazing when we consider all the terrible weather. The cards were mailed to Rocky Hill Hospital; Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.; and delivered to West Haven Veterans Hospital. The support for this program is a wonderful tribute to our town and the woman’s club really appreciates the generosity and caring shown to our veterans.

I would also like to thank Janet Woycik for allowing us to place the collection boxes in the Booth Library every year and The Newtown Bee for their coverage and support.
