Former Sandy Hook Resident
John J. Piluzza, 81, of The Villages, Fla., died January 28. He was born in Stamford, Conn., and was a resident of Sandy Hook for 11 years. He moved to The Villages in 2000.
Mr Piluzza was a veteran of the US Army, and was a manager for Perkin-Elmer Corporation for more than 30 years.
He was a member of St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown, the Perkin-Elmer Retiree Club, and numerous other Connecticut organizations, and a member of the Knights of Columbus of St Timothy Community Church in Florida.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed golf, traveling, gardening, camera, computers, and being a grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, âMickeyâ Piluzza; his daughter Karen Bouffard; his son Gary Piluzza; his sister Marie Bovaof; and four grandchildren.
A funeral Mass took place February 3. Interment was at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
Hiers-Baxley Funeral Service of The Villages was in charge of arrangements.
