DANBURY â Danbury and New Milford Hospitals plan to celebrate National Heart Month by conducting a heart healthy Spirit of Women Day of Dance at Danbury Fair, 7 Backus Avenue, on Saturday, February 26. The dance fever-inspired events will take place from noon to 4 pm in the mallâs Center Court.
Danbury and New Milford Hospitalsâ Spirit of Women Day of Dance features upbeat music and dances including ballroom, rumba, hip hop, ballet, and more, performed by local dance professionals and dance groups.
Attendees can also receive free heart health risk assessments and screenings that include blood pressure, cholesterol, vascular, weight, bone, and joint health.
Health screenings occur simultaneously. Participants will also have an opportunity to talk with hospital doctors about ways to be heart smart and improve overall health and well-being.
There will be a âDancing with the Starsâ competition at 3 pm, where attendees, along with a panel of judges, will watch and vote for a dancing doctor or nurse from Danbury and New Milford Hospitals who will compete for a trophy.
According to hospital officials, for women of all ages, dancing and other aerobic exercise help prevent heart disease, the number one cause of death in women. Whether dancing in public, or only in the privacy of their own home, visitors will have an opportunity to ask cardiovascular experts from Danbury Hospitalâs Praxair Regional Heart and Vascular Center about the heart healthy benefits of dancing or doing other forms of exercise in a regular basis.
