Everett C. Wehmeyer

Former Newtown Businessman

Everett C. Wehmeyer, 84, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died January 15, at Hospice of the Valley, after a lengthy illness. He was born September 1, 1926, in St Louis, Mo., and attended schools in St Louis and White Plains, N.Y.

Mr Wehmeyer worked in the automotive field and was the owner of Wehmeyer’s Tires on Church Hill Road in Newtown during the 1960s and 1970s. He served as a deacon at the Newtown Congregational Church, and had a ministry at Lordship in Stratford while living in Connecticut. He was involved in church ministry for the last 40 years.

He valued most his time spent with his loving wife of 35 years, the late Marilyn Moore Wehmeyer. The Wehmeyers moved to New Hampshire, and following her death, Mr Wehmeyer relocated to Arizona.

He loved camping, travel, history, cooking, baking, and woodworking. He is most remembered for his infectious sense of humor, and his abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Three children, Carol Wehmeyer Guinta, Stephen Wehmeyer, and Joanne Wehmeyer Pease; two brothers, Richard and Gilbert; two sons-in-law; eight grandchildren; and a cousin survive Mr Wehmeyer.

A celebration of Mr Wehmeyer’s life was held January 19, in Scottsdale. Burial arrangements are being made for a later date in New Hampshire.
