‘Till’ Movie Night Planned At Congregational Church
All are invited to join members of Newtown Congregational Church tonight for a special movie event.
From 6 to 9:30 pm, the church will host Movie Night at NCC, featuring a screening of the 2022 historical drama Till.
The event will open with a pizza dinner ahead of the screening.
Till is based on the relentless pursuit of justice by Mamie Till-Mobley (played by Danielle Deadwyler) for her 14-year-old son Emmett (Jalyn Hall) following his brutal lynching in 1955 Mississippi. The film, which also features Frankie Faison and Haley Bennett within its cast, is rated PG-13. It has a running time of 2 hours 10 minutes.
Till focuses on Mamie’s “poignant journey of grief turned to action” (Rotten Tomatoes) rather than images of her son’s murder.
Movie Night will be within the Great Room of Newtown Congregational Church, at 14 West Street. The movie and pizza dinner are all free of charge. Reservations are helpful but not required; contact Katherine Simpson at kroesslersimpson@gmail.com or 734-645-6909.
