Stray Kats Preparing ‘Seascape’

Up next for Stray Kats Theatre Company is a staged reading of Edward Albee’s Seascape, a funny, touching play about love, aging and evolution, as a recently retired couple ponder what to do with the rest of their lives.

The reading is scheduled for Saturday, February 25, in The Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street. The evening will include a talk-back with the company, coffee, and dessert by Andrea’s Pastry Shop of Newtown. The show begins at 7:30 pm.

Barbara Rhoades and Tom Zingarelli star as a recently retired couple at odds with how to spend the rest of their lives: seize the day and set a course for new experiences or take a well earned rest? The question is amplified when they are joined on the beach by another, rather unusual couple, played by Sean Hannon and Wynter Kullman.

Edward Albee received his second Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Seascape which opened on Broadway on January 26, 1975, featuring Deborah Kerr, Barry Nelson, Maureen Anderman and Frank Langella, who won the Tony for Best Supporting Actor.

Barbara Rhoades has been lighting up the stage and both small and big screens since the late 1960s. Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,  Ms Rhoades — who now lives in Weston — recently finished a lively stint on ABC’s One Life to Live as “the mother from hell” Irene Manning, and lit up the New York stage last spring in Love, Loss and What I Wore.

The cast will also include Tom Zingarelli of New Haven, Sean Hannon of Weston and Wynter Kullman of Westport.  All actors appear courtesy of Actors Equity Association.

Stray Kats is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicating to promoting thought-provoking, high-quality theatrical content.

Tickets are $25 if purchased in advance, or $30 at the door. They are available at www.StrayKatsTheatreCompany.org or by calling 203-514-2221.
