Middle Gate Conducts ‘Souper’ Bowl Collection

By Eliza Hallabeck

Cans of soup collected by the Middle Gate Elementary School community were gathered at the school and delivered to the Food Pantry at Social Services at Town Hall South on Friday, February 3, for the school’s “Souper’ Bowl food drive.

Middle Gate Principal Chris Geissler said while the food was delivered on Friday, the school is not done collecting canned goods. The drive has been extended at the school until February 14, the projected 100th day of school in the school district.

As an extra challenge, he said, each classroom at the school will try to collect 100 food items for the collection, to coincide with the 100th day of school.

Ann Benore, case manager/administrative assistant at Social Services, said on Friday the food pantry can use donations of cans of soup, spaghetti, canned raviolis, canned chili, canned stew, and cans of pork and beans. She also said donations of macaroni and cheese, any brand, are popular.

The Social Services food pantry is located at Town Hall South and is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.
