Captain Edward Anuszewski begins 2012 newly elected to the position of Executive Officer of the Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard (2GHG). The executive officer is the second in command of the unit and is responsible for overseeing the training of troopers, promotions of personnel, approval of the unitâs schedule, and other duties. He assists the unit commandant, Major Gordon Johnson, in keeping the troop trained and operational at all times. Captain Anuszewski, a 22-year veteran Connecticut State Trooper, admits heâs still grappling with the size of this new position heâs volunteered for.
The troop has voted Cpl. Lisa Plucinski as this yearâs recipient of the Major Edward Mursko Award. This annual award goes to an active member that the troop believes has conspicuously and consistently demonstrated those qualities which are essential to the continued growth and success of the unit. Cpl. Plucinski will receive a citation and a ribbon for achieving this award.
Calling all golfers: Monday, May 14 is the date for 2GHGâs First Annual Golf Tournament at the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange. The format will be shotgun/scramble. Registration begins at 12:30 pm with tee off at 1:30 pm. Cost of $150 per golfer includes carts, greens fees, locker room, beer at the turn during play, sit down dinner, 50/50 raffle, raffle prizes, and prizes for lowest scramble score, longest drive, and closest to the pin.
