Garner Inmate Charged

With Prison Assault

State police report they responded to Garner Correctional Institution, the state’s high security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road, at about 2:27 pm on February 5, after receiving a complaint about an incident there.

Following an investigation, state police said they arrested inmate Danny Lee Hines, 39, on a charge of assault on correction officer for allegedly assaulting a 28-year-old male correction officer. The victim was not injured, state police said.

Hines was arraigned on the charge on February 6 in Danbury Superior Court. He is scheduled to return to court on February 27 to enter a plea to the felony charge.

Hines is serving a 29-year sentence in Garner on a conviction on first-degree assault.
