Meals On Wheels Can Use Some Help
During its annual meeting on January 18, new board members were voted in for Newtown Meals On Wheels (MOW).
MOW is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that was formed 30 years ago in Newtown to deliver meals to persons who are housebound, including elderly persons who live alone and younger persons who are temporarily incapacitated.
The current co-presidents are Patti Barrett and Marg Studley; Peg Forbell is treasurer, and Dolores Judge is secretary.
Newly elected board members are Alex Aitchison, Marjorie Aitchison, Nancy Kennedy, Lucille LaPerch, and Judy Rosentel.
MOW receives suggestions for its meal deliveries from doctorsâ offices, local health care facilities, Newtown Social Services, family members, and from recipients themselves. An interview process is conducted.
Inquiries about receiving meals should be made to Marilyn Alexander, 426-6340, or Janet Hovious, 426-1960.
The group can use some help with additional volunteer drivers. For additional information or to volunteer contact Colleen Honan, MOW driver coordinator, at 426-0714.
