Two Arrested On Vandalism Charges
Police have charged two local men in connection with their alleged involvement in a mailbox/lawn vandalism spree in the Walnut Tree Hill Road area of Sandy Hook last November, which caused an estimated $2,000 worth of property damage.
On the night of February 1, police arrested Andrew Chimeleski, 19, of 22 Walnut Tree Hill Road, charging him with 16 counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and one count of second-degree criminal mischief.
On the afternoon of February 3, police arrested Christopher Johnson, 18, of 67 Walnut Tree Hill Road on 16 counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief, and on one count of conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief.
Police arrested both men on warrants following an investigation into numerous reports of vandalism that occurred on the night of November 25 and morning of November 26.
Police tallied 17 separate cases of vandalism against the two men, which generally involved damage to mailboxes and damage to lawns, which had been driven across with a motor vehicle. Following arrest processing against Chimeleski and Johnson at the police station, police released both men from custody on written promises to appear in Danbury Superior Court on February 15 for arraignment on the criminal charges.
