Tori Anderton canned 32 points, dragged down eight rebounds and made five steals to lead Alpine Realty past Newtown Performance, 80-64, in The Gym at Newtown womenâs basketball league.

Shelby Neveriski added 29 points and 11 rebounds as Sarah Gersky had a strong game with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kelly Fengler dropped in four points and pulled down 11 boards.Â For Newtown Performance, Katie Abromovitch led her team with 25 points and 13 rebounds while Jess Minotti added 13 points and Jody Rajcula dropped in 12 and pulled down 10 rebounds. Laura Cook and Jen Timpanelli combined for 14 points.

Jen Kelly poured in 35 points and grabbed 24 rebounds as Newtown Mobil smashed Walsh Logging, 72-47. Amy Proulx added 22 points and 15 rebounds while Renee Knapp and Kelly Pinkney combined for 16 points and 11 rebounds. For Walsh Logging, Tracey Paella led the way with 21 points asÂ Jen Zdziarski had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Joanne Duncanson grabbed 10 rebounds.

In recent action â

Amy McKenna tossed in 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Newtown Mobil past The Gym at Newtown, 86-54. Jen Kelly and Amy Proulx added 19 points each, with Kelly also pulling down 17 rebounds. Kelly Pinkney dropped in 14 points. For The Gym, Jaime Murphy canned 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Carolyn Schrieber had a strong game with 15 points and nine rebounds.Â Mel Darrah dropped in 12 points as Janet Duffey sank two three-pointers.

With all four players in double figures, Alpine Realty topped Newtown Phone Book, 62-50. Anderton (18 points), Fengler (16 points, 15 rebounds), Neveriski (15 points) and Gersky (13 points) did the damage. For Newtown Phone Book, Allison Padden popped in 19 points, including two three-pointers, whileÂ Maura Keenan added 16 points and pulled down 17 boards. Colleen Ruiz and Alex Heron combined for 15 points, eight rebounds and six steals.

Abromovitch canned 29 points to lead Newtown Performance past Walsh Logging, 66-49. Rajcula added 17 points and 15 rebounds as Minotti had 14 points. For Walsh Logging, Knapp dropped in 16 points as Zdziarski added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Duncanson dropped in 12 points while Doris Ratner had a career high 10 points.

Why Gun Violence Is Higher In The US

I want to clarify something that was not clear in my letter. Newtown DOES have an affordable housing plan, put together with the aid of the Council of Governments (COG) in 2022 and approved by the LC that year. The strategies in that plan are to "encourage", "support", "explore", "promote" various aspects of state and local affordable housing programs. Those strategies are largely repeated in the Housing Chapter of the Plan of Conservation and Development being finalized now. Newtown needs to measure its performance against those strategies and refine them to reflect the current situation and evaluate whether we are eligible for a moratorium on 8-30(g) projects if we have met the criteria. It's a question of being more specific and more rigorous in what we as a community would like to see to address this real and serious need, rather than to be on our heels when a developer proposes a project on their terms. An independent look outside the application process would be best for that. Thank you. Peter.

Discusses Affordable Housing

I on Glover Ave. walk my two Labs every morning and evening. Drivers are constantly cutting me off at the shopping center entrance and other driveways. There is no understanding of pedestrians rights. Drives make left turns onto Queen when its forbidden. Most cars cruse right thru the crosswalks without stopping for pedestrians. The Police have not issued one citation nor even a warming for crosswalk violations. The situation is out of control and now a loved resident, Pete, and a pet, Coby have been killed. Time for a plan. The problem is not Intersections, nor traffic, the problem 98s drivers and lack of enforcement. The plan need to create a culture that drivers obey speed limits and honor pedestrians right of ways. Isn't that the job of the Police Department and The Police Commission, to protect Newtowns citizens. This is a call to action.
