SOUTHBURY – Animals For Life, Inc., a Southbury based nonprofit animal rescue group will be hosting its annual Go Dog Go! Run for Rescue on Saturday, April 28, at Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury.

The organization is seeking sponsors to help underwrite the cost of the event. Race sponsorship is open to individuals as well as businesses and offers a unique way to support the life-saving work of Animals For Life while promoting your business.

Various levels of sponsorship are being offered, with the highest level being the Event Title Sponsor. The title sponsor’s name and logo will be incorporated into the event title, will be prominently displayed on the front of the custom designed tee shirts given to the participants, and will appear in all press releases, registration materials, advertisements, and on the AFL website.

The Run for Rescue is AFL’s most widely attended event. Last year, more than 200 participants and their families attended. The Run for Rescue is comprised of three separate events – humans may run solo in a USATF-certified 5K race or run with their dog in a two-mile race and participants who prefer to walk may join in an un-timed two-mile walk with or without their dogs.

Registration begins at 9 am the day of the event and the first race is for 11 am. Online registration is available at www.active.com. Bear in mind, the race is limited to 350 people.

In addition to the races, the day also features a dog and cat adoption and various pet-related vendors. There will be dog obedience and agility demonstrations as well as K9 Search and Rescue teams featuring local law enforcement. Food and refreshments will be served at the concession stand with purchases to benefit AFL directly.

The rest of the day’s events are expected to commence at 3 pm, weather permitting.

The Run for Rescue is being held during Quassy’s season-opening weekend.
