Seats For The Middle School
Auditorium
(The Bee has received for publication the following letter to the Newtown Board of Education:)
Iâm a freshman at NHS. As you all know, almost every high schooler plays a sport. Iâm no different. I act. Just like a soccer player, I practice and I work up to a big game, but for me, itâs a show. I have recently heard about the seating situation and ultimate quarantine of the middle school auditorium. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to have graced that stage in both seventh and eighth grade. I feel that if soccer has a field, we should have a stage.
The middle school spring production of The Wizard of Oz is in jeopardy. Even though the venue has been changed to Reed Intermediate School, the Tin Man, Dorothy, and the Lion will never have the opportunity I had to perform in front of their fellow classmates during the school day prior to opening night. This gives the students a sneak peek and boosts attendance at the show. I hope the Board of Education will consider spending the necessary amount needed to replace the seats. Remember, thereâs no place like home and NMS is where this performance should be. This is a crisis and needs to be addressed now. Thank you.
