Dark Comedy Will Open Season
For Local TheaterWorks Company
NEW MIILFORD â TheatreWorks New Milford will kick off its 40th anniversary ruby season with the dark comedy-drama, Dog Sees God: Confessions Of A Teenage Blockhead. The production of Bert V. Royalâs story for mature audiences will open February 23 for a four-week run.
Good Grief! One of Americaâs most popular comic strip characters is in high school now, and âOh, Brotherâ have things changed in this darkly comic and poignant take on the future of the Peanuts gang. Itâs been ten years since âCBâ has had to deal with kite-eating trees, and now his beagle has terminal rabies.
Always trying to comprehend lifeâs deeper meanings and deal with his never-ending identity crisis, CB turns to his pals for answers. But the answers donât come easy as these characters weave a modern tale of teenage angst that is hilarious, irreverent, and intensely moving.
Under the direction of Susan Pettibone of New Milford, Dog Sees God will feature area actors Ben Grinberg of New Preston; Devon McCorkle of Ridgefield; Keilly Gillen McQuail of Newtown; Joe Russo of New Milford; and Margaret Ann King, Joe Morris, John Stegmaier and Samantha Tuozzolo, all from Norwalk.
Dog Sees God will run Fridays and Saturdays, February 23 through March 17. Curtain is 8 pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 pm on Sunday, March 11. Tickets for all shows are $18.50 for general admission. On Thursday, February 22, senior citizens are invited to a free dress rehearsal at 8 pm, and Thursday, March 1, also at 8 pm, will be this productionâs Pay-What-You-Want night. At this performance attendees name the price for their ticket.
