Habitat Plans Annual Meeting
Habitat Plans Annual Meeting
DANBURY â Housatonic Habitat for Humanity will hold its annual meeting, to which the public is invited, on Wednesday, February 16 at the First Congregational Church of Danbury, 164 Deer Hill Avenue (West Street). The meeting will take place in Pilgrim Hall at 7 pm.
The annual meeting is among the most important of the year for HHfH, because the board not only elects new directors but takes stock of the previous year. And 1999 was a good one, with a strategic plan implemented, record fund-raising, a corporate sponsorship, a home dedicated in Newtown, a second on the same site nearly finished, and a third home started in Danbury. Housatonic Habitat plans to complete at least three homes in the year 2000.
Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of substandard housing. By partnering volunteers with working, low-income families who must invest at least 400 hours of âsweat equity,â Habitat has built, and sold at cost through no-interest loans, more than 80,000 homes worldwide, housing over 400,000 people. The organization currently has over 1,800 affiliates in 63 countries.
