Newtown High School's gymnastics team had three competitions this past week, and placed first in two of them. The Nighthawks went to New Milford High School to take on the host Green Wave and Oxford on February 2 and came in third; defeated visiting Oxford and Pomperaug of Southbury on February 3; and topped host Foran of Milford and Oxford on February 7.

On February 2, New Milford won the competition with a score of 129.850. Oxford was second with 123.9, and Newtown was third with 120.650. Newtown's results are as follows:

All around: Maddie Jannott sixth, 30.9. Mary Locke eighth, 30.250.Vault: Olivia Brosnan tied for sixth, 8.150
Bars: Locke tied for third, 7.45
Beam: Casey Sullivan fifth, 8.0
. Floor: Jannott sixth, 8.2. Also competing for Newtown: Allie Tassiello on bars, Liz Marcinek on beam, and Kylie Giroux and Bella Manfredi on floor.

On Friday, February 3, Newtown was first with 125 points, Oxford came in second with 122, and Pomperaug was third with 119.45. Results are as follows:

All around: Ally Kenny fourth, 31.5. Jannott sixth, 30.9. Sarah MacMullan seventh, 30.4.
Vault: Kenny and Brosnan tied for fourth, 8.0. MacMullan tied for fifth, 7.9. Bars: Kenny fourth, 7.6. Locke fifth, 7.5. MacMullan sixth, 7.4.
Beam: Sullivan second, 7.8. Jannott tied for fourth, 7.7. Kenny tied for fifth, 7.6.
 Floor: Jannott third, 8.5. MacMullan fourth, 8.4. Kenny fifth, 8.3. Locke tied for sixth, 8.2. 
Also competing for Newtown: Monika Mihok on beam, and Giroux and Manfredi on floor.

In the February 7 competition, Newtown scored 124.5 to win, Foran was second with 120, and Oxford came in third with 119.7. Results are as follows:
