The Newtown High School boys’ and girls’ indoor track teams competed in the South-West Conference championships on Saturday at the New Haven Athletic Center.

The girls’ team finished third among 13 teams and the boys’ team finished ninth among 11 squads.  The results were as follows for the Newtown student-athletes competing in this meet (top six finishers in each event earned points):

Girls

4x800 Meter Relay: Fifth place (2 points) Keegan Frobey, Erin Nemeth, Mara Scallon, Natalie Villa, 11:04.59

55 Meter Dash: 11th place Emma Kingsley, 8.24 seconds; 17th place Lauren Pettinelli, 8.39

55 Meter Hurdles: Eighth place Sarah Grose, 10.41

 Qualifiers were scheduled to participate in the Class LL State Indoor Championships on Thursday, at the New Haven Athletic Center, after The Bee sports section went to press.
