Post Prom Postscript
Post Prom Postscript
To the Editor:
It is the time of year when the Newtown High School Post Prom Committee would be hard at work planning the festivities for the 2008 Post Prom. However, this year, there will not be a Post Prom.
Last year, our committee consisted of about ten parents (with one who did not even have a current student) and two who had seniors. They committed to help again this year. However, we need far more than ten parents to run this event.
At the beginning of the school year, we did a survey of both parents and students. We did not get enough parent volunteers or enough student interest to continue. After last yearâs unfortunate incident, we had hoped the 2008 Post Prom would prove to be the safe alternative. This is not to be the case.
We would like to thank the community, businesses, and individuals who have so graciously supported the Post Prom over the last few years. Your generosity is so very much appreciated.
We truly hope all students will have a fun, memorable and safe evening following the prom.Â
