Jessie Steel Gustafson

Jessie Steel Gustafson, 86, of Stratford, died at Lord Chamberlain Health Center on Monday, January 21. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Alexander and Isabel Steel.

She enjoyed crocheting and tapestry work. Survivors include her beloved husband, Arthur C. Gustafson; a son, Richard Gustafson and his wife, Penny, of Newtown; a daughter, Janet Linton and her husband, Michael, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Dr Robert Steel and his wife, Phyllis, of California; a sister, Mary Kogut of Stratford; six grandchildren, Melissa Fossett, Andrea and Daniel Gustafson, and Kristen, Elizabeth, and Karen Linton; and a great-grandson, Blaine.

Mrs Gustafson was retired from the Stratford school system and had been a secretary for the principal of Johnson Junior High. She was a member of the Black Rock Congregational Church for more than 40 years and was a member of the Stratford Garden Club.

Friends are invited to attend memorial services Friday, February 8, at 11 am, in the Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, with the Rev James Marshall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield CT 06825; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, 10 Wall Street, Norwalk CT 06850.
