Invasive Plants: A Complex Problem
Invasive Plants:
A Complex Problem
The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will welcome Dave Goodwin on Wednesday, February 13, at 7 pm, at Newtown Senior Center, on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.
Mr Goodwin, who has more than 25 years of green industry experience, will be speaking on âInvasive Plants.â He is currently the general manager for Plantersâ Choice Nursery LLC in Newtown and is a past president for The Connecticut Nursery and Landscape Association and continues to be active in the association.
He has been a member of the Connecticut Invasive Plant Council since its inception and represents people who grow and sell plants in Connecticut. He was appointed to the council by the state House Majority Leader in 2003.
Mr Goodwin believes the invasive plant issue is so complex that it cannot be solved just by banning plants. He is committed to educating the public about invasive plants, so people can make informed decisions when they are selecting plant material for their gardens.
This issue is continuing to have a negative impact on the environment in the state and the public is invited to hear this important presentation.
Non-members are welcome to attend Town & Country Garden Club meetings, free of charge. For additional information call Barbara OâConnor at 426-1515.
