From Page To Stage: New Play
Reading & Works In Progress Series
BRIDGEPORT â Playhouse on the Green has initiated âFrom Page to Stage,â a new play reading and works-in-progress series. The next program will be a musical, and the series will include a talk-back after each presentation with the author and director. Programs are Sunday evenings at 7.
The first play in the series was The Case of the Curious Condiment, an Agatha Christie parody written and directed by Jack Rushen of Stratford, which was offered on January 27. Next up, on February 17, will be Me Me Me Me!, a one-man opera written and composed by Jed Wolf of Fairfield and directed by the award-winning actress, writer and director E. Katherine Kerr.
Mark Graham, Playhouse on the Green acting co-artistic director, said, âThere are so many interesting plays and theatrical works that have come to our attention from local playwrights and composers that we felt Playhouse on The Green should create an opportunity to showcase these works.â
Me Me Me Me!, an eccentric and exciting one-man opera, is about a quirky inventor who tries to market his beloved inventions in an indifferent world. This hilariously touching tale is based on the authorâs actual experiences with a reality TV program about inventions. Jed Wolf has composed a memorable score with songs that fill the stage like an entire musical cast.
No reservations are required. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. A contribution of $10 is suggested.
Playhouse on the Green is a 228-seat, state-of-the-art theater located at 177 State Street, Bridgeport. Free parking is available. The theaterâs box office can be reached by calling 203-333-3666.
