Alexander Kosowski, Newtown High School class of ’97, has achieved dean’s list for the fall 2000 semester at Penn State University, State College, Penn. Mr Kosowski, a senior at PSU majoring in electrical engineering, is the son on Mary and Ted Kosowski of Alexandria, Va.

Sarah McLoughlin of Newtown was recently named to the dean’s list at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Penn. Miss McLoughlin is a sophomore majoring in English.

St Joseph High School in Trumbull has announced its dean’s list for the second marking period at the school. Newtown students who were named include freshman Meghan Bartow, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Bartow, to principal’s honor roll; junior Anthony Bombaci, son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Bombaci; and freshmen Johanna Bombaci, daughter of Mr and Mrs Wayne Bombaci, and Holly Phaneuf, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Phaneuf, to the honor roll.

The University of Connecticut has announced that more than 2,800 students attainted the dean’s list during the fall 2000 semester. The following local students were named: College of Liberal Arts & Science – Nader R. Ali, Kara A. Bobowick, Rebecca L. Bombero, Tabatha L. Cannata, Darrin S. Fodor, Margaret M. Forde, Jeremy F. Hayden, Gregory A. Hays, Sage G. Huskins, Evin A. Liljengren, Gina M. Masso, Christian R. Petre, and Keith R. Russell; School of Business Administration – Christopher J. Damico, Sharon L. Hufner, and Corey E. Krueger; School of Engineering – Jedidiah E. Kiernan and Jeffrey P. Metcalf; and School of Fine Arts – Virginia M. Nagy.

The University of Delaware has announced three Newtown residents to the fall 2000 semester dean’s list at the university. Newtown residents include Kelly Lee Clark, family and community service major; Elizabeth Anne Huisking, marketing major; and Elizabeth Anne Kochuba, foreign languages and literature.

Western Connecticut University has announced that the following local students from the area have graduated from the University this January. The students include: Federick C. Baumer, BBA in Finance; Karen Browne, BBS in Management; Richard J. Carlson, BS in Justice and Law Administration; Melissa D. Cyr, BA in Social Sciences; John H. Dotson, BA in English (Writing Option); Ryan A. Mesinger, BBA in Finance; Robin L. Ruiz, BA in Biology (Bioscience); Eugene C. Giorgio, BA in Computer Science; William J. Pendergast, BS in Justice and Law Administration; Marissa A. Sessa, BS in Justice and Law Administration; Christine M. Smith, BA in English; and Kelly Lee Goodridge, MA in English.

Karina Wolfe of Sandy Hook has been named to the fall semester dean’s list at Marywood University. She is a member of the Music Therapy Club, orchestra, concert choir, and cross-country team. She competed in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championship and represented the university in the Eastern Division Cross-Country Championship in November. Miss Wolfe is a music therapy major and a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School.

Alexandra Zaleta, junior and psychology major at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., earned a 4.0 grade point average for the fall semester. Miss Zaleta successfully completed summer studies at Harvard University Cambridge, MA, also with a 4.0 grade point average. She is the daughter of Eugene and Juliana Zaleta of Newtown.
