U14 BOYS PREMIER

 

NEWTOWN 5, GUILFORD 3: The Strikers opened their winter indoor season with a win over a fast and physical Guilford team. Sean Rawson, Patrick Kiely, Mike Vanasse, Dave Kugielsky and Mike Bonsignore all scored to lead the team to victory. Nathan Walzer had a solid game.

U11 BOYS

 

The Newtown Rage participated in the Striker Tournament on January 29th at Western Connecticut State University. The Rage played five games, winning three and losing two. Stephen Marks was strong in goal, supported by Aron Fay, Justin Durelli, Brian Conroy and Chris Nuelle on defense. Nick Sando and Michael Klein’s speed created problems for the opponents. The goal scorers were Ryan McGrath, Jack Quinn, Michael Murphy and Mark Cinquegrana. Newtown defeated Bethel (1-0), East Fishkill (2-0) and the All-Stars (2-0), but lost to Simsbury (2-1) and New Canaan (2-1).
