CPSC Recalls Oven Cleaner
CPSC Recalls Oven Cleaner
According to Newtown Fire Marshal George Lockwood, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 50,000 cans of Easy-Off Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner by Reckitt & Colman, Inc.
An improperly attached valve assembly can separate from the can causing the contents to spew out. This poses a risk of chemical burns to the skin and eyes of consumers. The company has received 18 reports of incidents that resulted in 12 instances of chemical burns to persons using the oven cleaner.
The 16-ounce aerosol can is yellow with a solid yellow plastic cap. Only the oven cleaner with the lot number B9305-NJ2 printed on the bottom of the can is part of the recall. The oven cleaner was sold in supermarkets, mass merchandisers, hardware, drug and other stores throughout the country from November through January.
CPSC recommends that consumers who have this should wrap it in several layers of newspaper, take it outside and dispose of it with the regular household trash. Do not remove the cap. Consumers will get a replacement oven cleaner coupon from the manufacturer.
