Child Passenger Safety Week

February 13 through 19 is Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week in Connecticut.

In observance of that week, town police will be on the lookout for violators of child passenger safety laws, according to Sergeant George Sinko.

State law requires all front seat passengers to be seatbelted, even if a vehicle has air bags.

Any passenger in the front seat or rear seat who is age 4 through 15 must be seatbelted.

Children under 4 must be in child safety seats.

Violations of seat belt laws carry $37 fines. Child safety seat violations carry $60 fines.
