Poetâs Cornerâ
As Treetops Sway
By Katie Lauren Winkler
As snow drops fall on this cold winter day,
The pretty white treetops begin to sway.
The ground outside goes from green to white,
And the day quickly changes into a very cold night.
Â
Sitting inside, hot chocolate in hand,
I dream of warm beaches with very warm sand.
Outside the wind rustles strong and content,
Inside the only breeze comes from the warm corner vent.
Â
Outside icicles hang from the window so long,
And beautiful blue jays sing a goodnight song.
Inside I cuddle in the big warm plaid seat,
My body is shivering head down to feet.
Â
My last hope for now is when I awake,
We will have no school for every kidâs sake.
So goodnight for now as treetops sway,
And snow drops fall on this cold winterâs day.
